Summer pleasuresim Ridnaun valley

Spring awakening in the Ridnaun valley
The Ridnaun valley is an absolute hiking paradise. It offers the right path for everyone: it is possible to make comfortable walks of about one hour to cozy mountain huts as well as extended mountain trails (i.e. the Becherhaus with more than 3000m height). Many mountain paths are perfectly suited for family hiking. The kids can run, explore little water creeks, collect a bunch of flowers, maybe also spot a squirrel or even a roe deer and explore nature in their very individual way. Many montain huts also have little playgrounds and animals that the kids can play with. Some of the paths can be walked on with a pram. Moreover, there are also tracks made especially for the kids, like for example the “Pfeifer Huisile Weg” in Ratschings – the figure is from a saga that took place in the Ratschings valley. The view from the mountain peaks – far over many parts of the country – is breathtaking. With the activecard, all buses in all parts of South Tyrol are free!

Hiking suggestions in the Ridnaun valley for you

Agelsbodenalm (1.720 m)

Wandering over hill and dale – ideal for older children – you walk through the woods until you reach the Agelsboden hut. In alternative, you can also start at the little village Gesennen – shortly before the valley end. Tirol high altitude trail – 7th stage
The Tirolean high altitude trail on its 7th stage leads from Maiern in the Ridnaun valley to the Schneeberg hut and its minery near St. Martin at the Schneeberg. Stage 7 starts in Maiern. On path Nr. 8 you walk to the minery and then continue on path Nr. 27 A in the direction of the Lazzach valley. Above the Lazzach river starts the educational path and leads you all the way through the valley up to the Posch-house and to the Moarberg hut (serves food). At the hut, you change to path Nr. 28 and then on to the Schneeberg hut. This very interesting trail leads you along the medieval minery St. Martin at Schneeberg. From the Schneeberghut you can book guided tours through the tunnel as well as rids with the mine train in the Posch-hut tunnel.
